Vingroup has announced plans for Hung Vuong International Sports Complex, a more than 400-hectare sports, golf and entertainment ecosystem in southern Hanoi. At the heart of the project is VinFast – Trong Dong Stadium, with a planned capacity of 135,000 spectators, alongside golf courses, tennis, pickleball, paddle facilities and a wide range of professional sports venues.
More than just an international-scale sports complex, the project is envisioned as an integrated ecosystem combining sports, hospitality, entertainment, culture and services, with the potential to become a new destination in Hanoi.
VinFast – Trong Dong Stadium: The Heart of Hung Vuong International Sports Complex
At the center of the entire complex is VinFast – Trong Dong Stadium, planned across approximately 73.3 hectares with a capacity of up to 135,000 seats. According to the announcement, it is expected to become the world’s largest stadium by seating capacity once completed, while featuring a large-scale automatically retractable roof system.
The stadium is being designed to meet FIFA standards, while incorporating artificial intelligence and green technology solutions. Construction is expected to be completed in July 2027, with the ambition of becoming a new landmark for Vietnamese sports and a major venue for international cultural, artistic and entertainment events.

With a capacity of 135,000 spectators, VinFast – Trống Đồng Stadium is expected to provide a new venue in Hanoi for major sporting competitions, concerts, festivals and large-scale international events.
A Multi-Sport Ecosystem Is Coming to Hanoi, Vietnam
Hùng Vương International Sports Complex is not centered around a single stadium. Instead, it is planned as a multi-sport ecosystem featuring a range of professional sporting facilities surrounding VinFast – Trống Đồng Stadium, including:
- Olympic Stadium: approximately 40,000 seats, designed to host international athletics competitions as well as major sporting and cultural events.
- Hanoi Sport Arena: an indoor arena with a capacity of 12,000, designed for professional competitions, cultural programs and large-scale entertainment festivals.
- Aquatic Center: approximately 10,000 seats, designed for swimming and international-standard water sports.
- Velodrome: approximately 4,000–5,000 seats, designed to host professional cycling competitions.
Bringing multiple sporting facilities together within a single development will allow the complex to accommodate a wide range of sporting events, from professional competitions to cultural, artistic and entertainment programs.
Golf, Tennis, Pickleball & Padel for a Diverse Sports Experience
Another notable aspect of Hùng Vương International Sports Complex is that the ecosystem is not designed exclusively for professional athletes. The development also allocates significant space for increasingly popular sports such as golf, tennis, pickleball and paddle, catering to residents, visitors and recreational sports enthusiasts.
Key highlights include:
- Two 18-hole golf courses, planned with the involvement of international consulting firms.
- Tennis – Pickleball – Padel Park, covering more than 40 hectares.
- Approximately 300 courts, positioning the complex among the largest developments of its kind globally.
- A cycling network featuring different terrains and gradients.
These facilities are expected to broaden the appeal of the complex beyond professional athletes, creating opportunities for local residents, tourists and recreational sports enthusiasts to participate in a diverse range of activities.
New Opportunities for Hotels and Hospitality Businesses
The development of a large-scale sports complex could also create new opportunities for hotels and hospitality businesses across Hanoi. Rather than focusing solely on room sales, hotels could develop experience-based packages around major sporting and entertainment events, including:
- Accommodation packages combined with event tickets.
- Transportation services to and from the stadium.
- Dining experiences before and after events.
- Corporate and VIP hospitality services.
- Special offers for groups attending major events.
- Promotional collaborations with event organizers and sports brands.
This approach could be particularly relevant for international visitors and corporate travelers, allowing a trip centered around an event to expand into accommodation, dining, entertainment and destination experiences.
A Potential New Destination for Hanoi, Vietnam
With its combination of major sporting venues, golf, recreational sports, hospitality and entertainment, Hùng Vương International Sports Complex could become more than a sports development. The project has the potential to create a new destination where sports, golf, hospitality, entertainment and culture come together within a single ecosystem.
For Hanoi, the development could provide additional infrastructure for international events while creating new opportunities for hotels, tourism businesses, golf operators, restaurants and experience providers to develop products around major events and high-value visitors. As Vietnam continues to strengthen its position as a destination for international tourism and major events, developments such as Hùng Vương International Sports Complex could play an increasingly important role in shaping the country’s future sports and hospitality landscape.
