Vingroup’s ambitious Can Gio sea encroachment project, valued at over VND 282,000 billion, is slated to begin construction in April 2025. The project will feature a 155-hectare golf course and more than 27,000 townhouses and villas.

Spanning 2,870 hectares, including 600 hectares reclaimed from the sea, the development is divided into five sub-areas: A, B, C, D, and E. Sub-area A, the largest, covers 950 hectares, followed by sub-area B with nearly 660 hectares, sub-area C at approximately 318 hectares, sub-area D at 480 hectares, and sub-area E at 458 hectares.
The project is located in Long Hoa Commune and Can Thanh Town, Can Gio District, Ho Chi Minh City, with a total estimated investment of VND 282,800 billion. Of this, sea reclamation will require approximately VND 65,600 billion, technical infrastructure around VND 32,500 billion, and the remaining VND 184,700 billion will be allocated for architectural construction. The project’s total scale is 2,870 hectares, including 600 hectares reclaimed from the sea.
This information is detailed in the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report currently under consultation for the Can Gio Coastal Urban Tourism Project. According to the report, the project will require a workforce of 10,500 people. Specifically, 5,000 workers will be needed during the construction phase, 500 operational staff for phase 1, 2,000 for phase 2, and 3,000 for phase 3.
The main components of the project include residential buildings, service-public facilities, and tourism infrastructure.
For residential buildings:
Low-rise housing will include 13,423 townhouses with a maximum height of 5 stories and 11,542 villas with a maximum height of 3 stories. Additionally, 2,264 townhouses will have a maximum height of 4 stories.
The project will feature 11 apartment buildings with up to 39 stories and 95 social housing buildings with a maximum of 7 stories.
For service-public facilities:
A landmark 108-story building with mixed-use functions will be constructed, along with 4 commercial centers, 18 service buildings with a maximum height of 25 stories, a 4-story market, and 82 low-rise commercial zones.
Other facilities include schools, a stadium, a theater, a central square, and a hospital.
Notably, the tourism section will feature a golf course spanning over 155 hectares in Zone A, a theme park covering nearly 123 hectares, as well as villas and resort hotels.
