Chhun On Golf Resort in Phnom Penh has officially opened its Palm Course and simultaneously announced a landmark partnership with The PGA of Great Britain & Ireland, rebranding the property as Chhun On PGA National Cambodia. A Course Built for Every Golfer
Designed by the acclaimed Curley-Wagner design team, the Palm Course is a study in modern golf architecture. Expansive fairways, strategic bunkering, and sweeping panoramic views create a layout that challenges elite players while remaining genuinely welcoming for golfers of all abilities.
“Despite the abundance of water across the property, we wanted the course to feel inviting rather than intimidating,” said architect Brian Curley. “The strategy and length is there for elite players, but the width and angles give golfers of all abilities room to play and enjoy the experience.”
The Palm Course is Curley’s second layout at Chhun On, following the Lake Course which opened in 2024. Together the two courses now offer 36 holes of championship golf across a landscape defined by water features and native vegetation making Chhun On one of the most complete golf destinations in the region.
A Southeast Asia First: Lynkz Zoysia Greens
One of the Palm Course’s most talked-about features is its greens. Chhun On becomes the first golf course in Southeast Asia to use Lynkz Zoysia grass on its putting surfaces, supplied by Sustainable Turf Farms in partnership with Sports Turf Solutions.
Already recognized as the fastest greens in Cambodia, the surface delivers a smooth, resilient, and high-performance playing experience that sets a new benchmark for quality in the region.
“The greens are a defining feature of the Palm Course,” Curley noted. “They’re designed to provide a consistent, high-performance surface that will keep the course playing beautifully year-round.”
The 19th Hole: An Island Accessible Only by Boat
Beyond the 18 championship holes, the Palm Course features one of the most distinctive amenities in Asian golf: a 19th hole situated on an island, accessible only by boat. It is the kind of detail that transforms a round of golf into an experience and the kind of story that travels far beyond Cambodia’s borders.
A Landmark PGA Partnership
The Palm Course opening was accompanied by an equally significant announcement. Chhun On has entered into a landmark partnership with The PGA of Great Britain & Ireland, the organization’s first formal presence in Cambodia. The resort is now officially recognized as Chhun On PGA National Cambodia and will serve as home to the PGA National Golf Academy Cambodia.
The partnership brings immediate practical benefits, including a Head Coaching role at the PGA National Academy,while setting longer-term ambitions: developing local Cambodian talent, creating pathways into the game for more people across the country, and positioning the resort to host significant international professional golf events.
“Our partnership with The PGA is another important step in that journey, elevating our resort while helping grow the game throughout Cambodia,” said Fabrice Ho, General Manager of Chhun On PGA National Cambodia.
Oknha Chhun Chetna, Managing Director, added: “We now have international-standard golf courses and coaching facilities recognised by The PGA, and this opens a major gateway for golfers from different countries to come and play in Cambodia, which will help promote tourism and generate revenue for our country.”
