One of Malaysia’s most iconic golf venues, Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club (KLGCC), has shared a major progress update on the renovation of its East Course. Designed by Faldo Design, the redevelopment remains on schedule despite challenging weather conditions and is set to deliver a completely refreshed championship golf experience.
Renovation Progress Remains on Schedule
According to the latest project update:
- First 9 holes scheduled to reopen in October 2026
- Second 9 holes expected to open in December 2026
- Full 18-hole championship course anticipated in March 2027
Although the construction team has encountered periods of exceptionally heavy rain, work has continued according to plan thanks to close coordination between Faldo Design, Green Dynasty, KLGCC’s management team and specialist contractors.
A Complete Course Upgrade, Not Just a Renovation
The East Course redevelopment extends well beyond reshaping fairways and greens. The project incorporates modern golf course construction techniques, sustainability-focused materials and upgraded infrastructure throughout the course.

Some of the most notable improvements include:
- New Faldo Design bunker architecture built using CapillaryFlow, EcoBunker and LOKSAND systems
- Lynkz Zoysia turf for greens and surrounds
- Stadium Zoysia grass across fairways, tees and roughs
- Root-zone enhancement using Profile Porous Ceramics (PPC)
- New turf establishment supported by Sustane natural fertilisers
- Complete Toro irrigation system upgrade for improved water management and course conditioning
Industry Collaboration Behind the Project
The renovation has become one of Asia’s most collaborative golf course redevelopment projects. KLGCC appointed Green Dynasty Pte Ltd to lead construction under the supervision of Owen Hester, while Adam Calver, General Manager of Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club, oversees the project. More than 11 member companies of the Asian Golf Industry Federation (AGIF) are contributing specialist products, turf solutions, irrigation technology and quality control throughout the redevelopment.
A notable aspect of the project is the use of an Owner Supplied Materials model, allowing KLGCC to purchase key construction materials directly while contractors focus on execution. This approach helps maintain quality, control costs and improve project flexibility.
