SEA Games Golf Club was designed by Boo Young Co., Ltd., officially opened in 2009 and developed to serve the 25th Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 2009), hosted in Vientiane, Laos. Located in Saythany District, approximately 18 km northeast of central Vientiane, the golf club features a 27-hole layout divided into three distinct 9-hole courses: Course A, Course B and Course C. With a combined length of approximately 10,700 yards across all three courses, SEA Games Golf Club offers flexible playing combinations to accommodate golfers of different skill levels. Surrounded by woodland and the peaceful natural scenery of Vientiane’s outskirts, the course provides an open and relaxing golfing environment away from the city’s urban activity.

The terrain at SEA Games Golf Club features characteristics of a links-style course, with relatively flat ground, wide fairways and minimal elevation changes of approximately 15 feet across the entire property. One of the most distinctive design features is its extensive network of water hazards distributed throughout the course. The property contains approximately seven lakes, including one large lake stretching more than 900 metres, which forms a natural boundary for several holes across Course B and Course C. According to the course layout, 18 of the 27 holes are directly influenced by water features. Most of the lakes run alongside the fairways rather than requiring golfers to carry their shots over water. However, they still create considerable pressure when it comes to directional control and avoiding wayward shots, particularly slices and hooks. Some greens extend towards the lakes in a peninsula-style design, resembling island greens and requiring golfers to carefully judge distance and shot power when approaching the putting surface.

With three separate 9-hole courses, SEA Games Golf Club offers flexibility in selecting playing routes while providing different experiences through combinations of Course A, B and C. Course A is distinguished by relatively wide fairways, while Courses B and C feature narrower playing areas that demand greater accuracy off the tee. These differences allow the club to accommodate a variety of golfers, from recreational players to more experienced golfers seeking to challenge their ball control and course management skills. Beyond the main playing areas, the club also offers a range of facilities, including a clubhouse, changing rooms, a pro shop, a restaurant, practice facilities, caddie services and golf carts. With its history associated with the 2009 SEA Games, flexible 27-hole layout, extensive water features and peaceful woodland surroundings, SEA Games Golf Club stands out as a notable golfing destination in Vientiane, combining sporting heritage with the distinctive natural scenery of Laos.
