Hoiana Shores Golf Club, designed by renowned golf course architect Robert Trent Jones Jr., opened in 2020 as Vietnam’s first true links-style golf course. Situated along the central coast near Hoi An, the club features an 18-hole, par-71 championship layout stretching to 7,004 yards from the back tees, with spectacular views of the Eastern Sea and the Cham Islands.

Rather than relying on mature trees to frame the holes, the course weaves through natural sand dunes, native grasses and expansive sandy waste areas. The undulating fairways and strategically positioned bunkers demand accuracy and thoughtful shot placement, while firm playing surfaces and ever-changing coastal winds add another layer of difficulty. Golfers must carefully consider their club selection and approach angles, as an ambitious shot can quickly turn into a costly mistake.

The closing stretch from holes 16 to 18 is particularly memorable, bringing the coastline and sea breeze into play. The 16th, named Cua Dai, offers a striking coastal setting, while the 17th, known as Cham, is a par three that challenges golfers to judge both distance and wind direction when playing towards its expansive, contoured green. The round concludes with the 593-yard par-five 18th, named Serpent, where a winding fairway and natural water features demand careful planning over the final hole. With its distinctive links character and exposed coastal setting, Hoiana Shores offers a rewarding test of strategy, precision and adaptability.
