Riverdale Golf Club was designed by golf course architects Jonathan Morrow and Al Tikkanen and officially opened in 2010. Located in Pathum Thani Province, approximately 30 minutes from central Bangkok, the 18-hole, par-72 course stretches to around 7,000 yards from the back tees. Set within the Chao Phraya River plain, Riverdale was developed with the concept of creating an artificial hilly landscape, offering a distinctive golfing experience compared to many of Bangkok’s relatively flat courses. Its combination of undulating fairways, water features, rolling green mounds and elevated putting surfaces creates a varied landscape while introducing a range of strategic challenges for golfers.

The terrain at Riverdale Golf Club is characterized by artificial hills, rolling fairways and interconnected water features surrounded by lush greenery. The designers used soil excavated from the course’s large lakes to create different elevations and mounds, giving individual holes varied perspectives and playing angles. The course features white-sand bunkers, deep sod-walled pits and natural sandy areas dotted with native grasses. Several holes have elevated tee boxes overlooking the fairways below, requiring golfers to carefully judge distances and landing positions. In addition, lakes and natural wetlands not only enhance the visual appeal of the course but also play an important role in its overall strategy. Rather than relying solely on distance, Riverdale rewards thoughtful course management, encouraging golfers to balance safer playing options with more aggressive shots when seeking an advantage.

Several standout holes highlight the creativity of Riverdale’s design. The par-5 sixth hole is one of the course’s most demanding challenges, stretching up to 623 yards from the back tees. Golfers must execute accurate shots to navigate the bunkers lining the fairway and protecting the green. The par-4 seventh is a relatively short dogleg hole that offers longer hitters an opportunity to take a more aggressive line and potentially attack the green directly. Meanwhile, the par-3 eighth is considered one of the course’s most distinctive features, thanks to its alternative double-green design. Golfers can aim for the upper green, which requires a longer shot, or choose the lower island-style green, surrounded by water and a deep bunker, offering two different playing options with varying levels of difficulty. Further along the course, holes 13 through 16 form another notable stretch, winding around a large lake where water hazards continuously influence shot selection and course strategy. With its distinctive artificial hills, strategically positioned water hazards and bunkers, and creatively designed holes, Riverdale Golf Club offers a varied golfing experience that combines lush scenery with challenges demanding precise ball control, thoughtful course management and accuracy throughout the round.
